Troop 536 Summer Camp

Please select 2 merit badges for each time slot as listed below.  A primary merit badge and a back-up for that period.  Scouts should take a minimum of 5 classes and should also give themselves 1 free period, unless they really want a full day of classes.  You can print this list and indicate your first and second choices, or CLICK HERE TO SELECT MB COURSES ONLINE.

 

Period 1 9:00-10:00

*Soil & Water Conservation
Rifle Shooting partial (.22) - take this one if you have a partial from last year.
Snorkeling - NOT A MERIT BADGE
Nature
*Camping - NOT RECOMMENDED.Requires 20 nights of camping in a tent.Mr. Buchanan teaches this MB.
Fishing - Mr. Lukehart can teach this MB, but it gives Scouts something fun to do at camp.
Pioneering
Safe Swim Defense - NOT A MERIT BADGE. Okay for Leaders too.
Safety Afloat - NOT A MERIT BADGE. Okay for Leaders too.

 
Period 2 10:00-11:00:

*Swimming
*Hiking - Scouts will NOT be able to complete this MB at camp.  Requires multiple Hikes of 10+ miles. Taught by Mr. Buchanan.

Backpacking - several backpacking trips are required and won't be completed at camp.  Mr Buchanan teaches this merit badge.
Astronomy - no one in the troop has finished it in the last few years - requires clear skies for the evening portion.
CLIMB ON SAFELY - NOT A MERIT BADGE. Okay for Leaders too.
